It's a fair offer for Zegras, in spite of the mountain of Habs fans about to start screeching "zEgRaS iSn'T wOrTh A tOp 6 pIcK!!!"

It's a weak draft, you hope and pray the player taken at 6 turns into Zegras' shadow, let alone becomes Trevor Zegras.

Marner has proven he’s not a 10.5M$ player. When you start making that kind of coin, you start carrying teams on your back in the playoffs. 8.5M$/8yrs is what I’d give him, with added bonuses for playoff performances.

But giving Guhle AND a first is a steep price. I’d make it top10 protected, or make it a conditional pick where MTL can choose between a ‘25 pick or a ‘26 pick.

The Zegras deal, I’d offer the draft pick straight up for Zegras, nothing else. He’s a one dimensional player with good offensive instincts. He’s not elite.

It's a fair point assuming it's going to impact our ability to re-sign players like Slaf, Hutson, Reinbacher, Dach to team friendly deals!

I just feel like hitting the gas this offseason. I liked what I saw from the forwards I care about and I want to reward them.

I also think the sheer number of defenders is untenable and we need to move some while retaining value. The highest value defenders we have that we can consider moving are Matheson & Guhle. Since I don't think moving the only veteran D we will have left after Savard is gone this offseason or at the TDL, I choose to move Guhle.

Why not consider moving Hutson?

We don't have another player like Hutson. Reinbacher can bring a lot of what Guhle can. Mailloux & Xhekaj as well though to a lesser extent.

I don't see Guhle as a better player than Reinbacher long term, but I am extremely happy to have him on the team.
