As a Penguins fan, this makes me sad because I could totally see this happening...

Eight years for a guy who start his contract at age 30, seems so unwise.

The first or Mikheyev has to be dropped, were not giving our leading scorer on a great contract AND a first PLUS taking a cap dump the other way.

I'd love Guentzel on Petey's wing, but even if the team manages to move Mikheyev's contract I think VAN will be looking at less expensive top 4 winger options (maybe Toffoli or Teravainen?).

Another scoring forward is a priority, but so is overall team depth. Adding a guy with a 9.5 AAV is going to seriously limit the depth options; in this ACGM you've filled out the forwards really nicely but the D is not as good or deep overall.

What about reducing the first to a lower pick?

Or the Canes just keep Guentzel instead.

I can see the Ducks targeting Hronek, but not at the price of a 1st and their leading goal scorer

Nah, Micky is a strong negative asset, he's going to cost a lot to dump.

Realistically I would probably simply keep Mikheyev on the Canucks instead of signing guentzel and just do hronek for byram o and edmontons first. Give more cap space for Van to sign a top 4 Dman instead of Juulsen anyways

That's a possible deal. Verbeek is familiar with Hronek, and while he's older he's not too old to be part of the core going forward. Only wrinkle I could see is Vatrano has been very vocal about wanting to stay in Anaheim, but then again, Verbeek marches to the beat of his own drum.

Okay I’ve done a new AGM with the simpler hronek trade on it. More fair to both sides and less complicated
    GiggywithGibby liked this.
