Getting Hamilton healthy and with Hughs and Nemec older alone will be a huge upgrade, add in a better netminder and you don’t need much more then that.

Probably need another center in the mix, unless Lazar sticks as 4C…and certainly need some depth pieces, especially a speed/size guy or two for 4th line.

But in full agreement on blueline. Don’t need Vezina caliber goalie…or another superstar.

Rossi is not going to be moved in a deal like this.

I’m going to respectfully disagree with this take on goaltending. The devils need as close to a sure thing as they can get with a goaltender. Tom Fitzgerald has tried several times to address the goaltending in his time as GM. He’s tried players like Corey Crawford, Jonathan Bernier and Vitek Vanacek. For one reason or another, those options did not work out except for one year of Vanacek. I think the organization desperately craves stability at goaltending. I like most of what this roster is, but there is $2.1M left to upgrade the goaltending from someone more desirable than Anthony Stolarz.

Maybe Gustavsson could be moved in a deal where the Wild move up in the draft. But not Rossi, he is too valuable for that.
