my reasoning was that Detroit is in a position of exiting out of their rebuild and now looking to be in the playoff hunt and clearing close to 8 million dollars comes at a price. They can definitely sign a couple quality ufa players to get them into a playoff spot with 8 million in extra cap space. I threw in the extra 4th due to Holl having an extra year and due to the fact he is essentially unplayable just like Husso.

Mikheyev has lost whatever inkling of a scoring touch he had imo getting rid of his contract to retain Joshua, Lindholm, and or Zadorov would be worth it.

Husso injury makes it likely LTIR comes into play.

I thought he was coming back this year? I didn't see an update on his injury.

Husso isn't unplayable he was literally hurt half the year lol. He either is healthy and playable or he gets LTIRed.

Holl is an easy buyout or retain him at half and you don't pay nearly that much, if anything.

He came back in April, in Grand Rapids for a start, didn't make it through warm ups before being shut down again. Same injury from Dec

How does it make sense to trade a guy with assets for future considerations when we dont need the cap space and we can retain on him and recoup positive value? Habs obviously pass.

No thanks on Aho and Tierney. Pass on the Dvorak trade if Monahan signed as a UFA. Only need one of them. Dickinson is the other middle 6 C. Detroit and Edmonton aren't paying that much to dump those players either.

They aren't exiting out of their rebuild yet. Playoffs are not the goal, they would just be a bonus. We have a couple more years of mediocrity before playoffs are necessary.
That said, we aren't paying to dump cap. Holl buyout is decent enough for the team. Husso will split starts if he is healthy, if not then he will be LTIR.

A bit exaggerated and maybe less desirable targets, but definitely more along the lines of what I expect CHI to be doing. We aren't getting Marner, we aren't making huge free agent splashes. Not bad for a Canuck! haha. Cheers!
