Why would you buyout Marner when it would be better to waive him or obviously some team will make a decent offer...

Full NMC he can not be waived and would have to agree on any trade. I am sure he will not agree to be traded away from Toronto.

I dont get this idea or notion...he actually if anything may beg to get out...that said these are professionals...so if he and management decide to part ways ya sure he will have a say...I see a Tkachuk type situation but not sure Marner has the same amount of teams that would take him given the cap hit

But if it came to it I would just scratch him vs a buyout which is not far off his cap hit.

My guess is he winds up on Ovi's line and helps him get to 895...maybe even on Utah wink

The reason I don't see it is that he is a Toronto kid, grew up in the area, grew up a leaf's fan, drafted there, its always been his home. Tkachuk is different he is a US born player playing in Canada there's not as much of a tie to the community or area is all. I mean obviously anything can happen but just seems unlikely he would waive to leave is all.

The whole Toronto nostalgia thing is over blown by fans and media.

The guy is young and spends half the year traveling...he can still call Toronto home and have a beautiful second home somewhere else.

He is a good hockey player and I feel like its in his best interests to shop around and get a new start...thats the advice his agent should give him...just mentally shop around and tell Leafs no extension just yet and given all the hype what is feeling is with his NMC.
