Not going to try to propose a deal here, but I'm curious about what peoples' thoughts would be on a trade built around Zegras for Necas?
      CAR
CAR gets an infusion of flashier skill and some cost certainty while ANA gets a right-shooting skilled forward to partner with one (or two) of McTavish, Carlsson, or Gauthier for the long term.

Necas for Z doesn’t make sense for ANA. Fill a hole on RW by opening one at LW with someone who also fills in really well at C whenever McT or Leo are injured. Necas is an absolute steal on his current deal, but will almost certainly be overpaid starting next year for the duration of his new contract. He has solid production, but all his advanced stats are very concerning. Im out on him for ANA, but totally the right move for CAR to shop him

Any top 6 RW on a 2 year deal is a good add. Thats the perfect amount of term for ANA

We could really use a better RD than Chat though. Roy from LA is my preference rn

On the RFAs let Grouxl walk. Possibly Jones. Lacombe costs more. And though I like Vaak, the team did seem to prefer Lindstrom

Positionally Gauthier on the wing with Leo is my guess

Zegras is a worse fit for the canes than necas. Zegras’ no defense approach is a no go for the Canes

        Much better defensively that Necas

I am not saying Necas is like Dubois but I will say I think the scenario might be the exact same — he will be to expensive to trade for and then he will also be to expensive to resign. I don’t think either of those will match the production

Faksa could be interesting but I think I’d rather just resign Isac Lundeström to play 4C

Chatfield is not a top pairing defenseman, at all

The left side on defense is going to be super interesting imo

Fair enough on Necas. I just figured ANA was really looking for another R-shot forward for the long-term.

I agree that a better RD than Chat would be ideal but my scenario already has the best of the UFA crop going elsewhere. As I think ANA is still a couple years from competing, they'll likely have to settle for a less-than-ideal fill-in for a few years and I chose among the better ones left that would likely be interested in the opportunity for ice time in ANA.

I liked Faksa for the spot because I think be relatively in-demand (as far as cap dumps go) and would open up deployment options for their youth.

I'll keep the rest in mind in future iterations smile

Necas is replacement level defensively. Zegras is below replacement level. They both suck defensively, but Necas sucks less

I like picking up Faksa as a 4C, I've proposed the idea a few times (though I sent McGinn the other way, he's slightly cheaper than faksa so still a cap savings)

As far as Zegras for Necas, Zegras is the far superior player when looking at advanced stats, leading me to believe Necas' production is a result of his current settings, not his own ability. He's a complimentary player who's fast enough to be in the right place at the right time, and he's no better defensively than Zegras, after this season, id argue he's actually worse.

Go read advanced stats on the two of them.
