I've seen his name a lot, but I think too many people think it'll be far too cheap. I know VGK is up against it, but also there are 30 teams besides NJD that want to get better. Carolina could get in on him with Skjei leaving. SLC could want to make a run. Toronto may want in...

All true. I think Mcphee would be ok with him getting out of the west, so thats half the teams. Wouldnt hurt to try. That buys some time for the young D to get read to compete deep into playoffs

I would be for it, I just think the price will be higher than many think it will be. I imagine they get a 2nd for him, which after my trades we would have to move the 26 2nd. I'd rather give Bahl one more shot and if he doesn't cut it, then make a move as the season goes on and some other team gives up.

I believe with this lineup we are better than last year in all areas of the ice. Just need to be healthier than last year.

You left some meat on the bone here. You still have $5M you could spend on the roster. Do something nice. You can make edits. I do like the idea of adding Brayden McNabb and maybe spending a bit more on a goaltender. They have to find a goaltender that’s as close to a sure thing as possible and I’m not sure Filip Gustavsson is the answer.

I don't think the Sharks take that deal. I think Sturm is worth more than moving up from 84 or 85 (depending if FV reaches the WCF) to 75, adding in a late 5th, and gambling on a guy who has been dealing with back issues for the last 4 years.

Now if the Sharks are targeting someone who is available at 75 and they don't think will be there at 84 or 85 it might change things, but otherwise I don't think it's worth it. That's especially true when giving up a center (a position where they're weak) and a guy who has taken on a leadership role and plays the style Grier wants (never giving up on a game even in the middle of a 10-game losing streak when you're trailing by 4-5 goals).

I did write in the overage myself, not realizing CF added that in for next season recently, so I have $1.6m more to spend than I thought. What I said in description is I would like to upgrade on Bahl, but I'm not going to move all my chips yet. We can have differenting views on Gustavsson, but I really don't like any goalie more than him (when accounting for his skills, age, and cap hit, and length of contract) outside of Ullmark of goalies that are truly available (if you want to count Saros as available for now, go ahead). I do not like Markstrom for age and cap hit, I don't like Jarry any more than Gus for skill yet has a worse contract. I don't think there are many sure things, and honestly I don't want to deal with Boston fans thinking Ullmark is worth the 10th overall pick when he can't even be extended until after the draft, and I'm not taking an agent's word for it. So for those saying "tHeY cAn TaLk BeFoRe", without a contract, no deal on the 10th overall pick for Saros or Ullmark.

Which is why I think we would still do a trade mid year if Bahl doesn't find his game again. I'd also like to upgrade the 7D over Brendan Smith for more depth there, but willing to see who needs a bounce back season that is older that we only need to lock up for a year.
