I really can't see LA giving up on him so quick, and with his history do you really want to take the risk?

Not sure about that. Bad season is 40 points. Not a great value for the huge contract but this guy has a excellent shot, he is big and great speed. This is what Mtl need .

Montreal is trying to build something around their core and young players, the absolute last thing they want to do is bring in the dressing room cancer, low effort, one of the worst contracts in the league, quebecer, that is PLD. And they are certainly not going to pay to bring this player in.

Heard the same thing about Drouin right after he was traded to Montreal.

last thing you want to do is get the same player you guys wanted so badly last year, because so much has changed!

cant say its not the wrong move to avoid him, it definitely is, its just funny how quickly opinions change.

Always giving up on his teams
Whether its Columbus , or WPG or LAK
After 3 seasons he always taps out

You figure he'd learn cause he builds up over 3 years finishing with his best season
Then when he finally has it all working out for him , he changes teams and starts all over again.
Really and truly i dont want him, never have as the cost is too much and TBH i'd rather have Danault back if im overpaying for a Center to Produce 40 pts why not a Defensive Stalwart ? But honestly im a Monahan guy and want to re-sign him this summer to a 15m dollar deal in whatever term like 5x3m,4x 3.75, 3x 5m, or 2x 7m even as the 2 year deal lets us possibly get a third 1st round pick from a trade with Monahan if lets say we get injured missing the playoffs (5th most man games lost since 2015 due to injury)

Any team that WANTS to acquire PLD should have their heads examined. If I’m LAK I would consider it just to get him out. I know all of LAK sucked in the playoffs but the dude took more penalties than he did shots.

Sometimes, the pleasure of saying "I told you so" isn't worth the pain of getting there.

Acquiring DuBois never made sense to me because there was no hole between two top-6 forwards that needed filling. As a result, DuBois has played with youngsters on his wings who may never develop into top-6 personnel, and Los Angeles doesn't have the cap space to re-sign Viktor Arvidsson (who is the only King who has made DuBois look tenable) and add a LW so that DuBois becomes a productive member of society. So unless Alex Turcotte and Alex LaFerriere (or maybe Akil Thomas) both have the kind of breakthrough year that Quint Byfield had this past season, the situation isn't going to improve.

Never wanted PLD, even last year. But yeah most habs fans wanted him because "Quebec", do not understand how fans of a team can possibly value speaking french over skill/talent/work ethic/character, its the same part of the fan base and media that thinks Suzuki shouldn't be captain cause he's not a native quebecer. Hughes may be the first GM in a while that doesn't get pressured into making a stupid move like that.

You might get lucky
A team like in a bad situation might consider
Lets say Dubois for Huberdeau with RS to match
So both would have 7 years x 8.5 on both sides
Huberdeau's more productive in a down year is only 8 pts behind PLD best year
Kadri is the type to Humble a guy like PLD or make him waive his NMC more liberally to leave if need be

Huberdeau in LAK is actually kinda Scary as Kopitar is that Elite Center he's used to playing with
PLD is a Power Center at a time CGY could use it and opens up more room on Wing for their Youth to Grow.
It creates more room for Kadri to Flex with Backlund and PLD to take bulk faceoffs it allows Kadri more OZ time

That said its still just exchanging big ass contracts lol
