Wihtout the retention sure Calgary will even add something but the retention is a no go.

PLD is wanted and welcomed in LA just wish he wasn't signed at 8.5m. If he was signed at like 6m the lack thereof production his first season out here wouldn't sting as bad as it does. But he will very likely get to the production level of a 8.5m guy in the next year or two. (Fingers crossed)

It's easier to bank on a 25 year old PLD improving next season, 30 year-old Huberdeau at $2+M having two bad seasons strung together.

Also keep in mind, LA made this trade because they need a top-6 C, if they take a loss on PLD it will be for another struggling center.
