You confuse me. NYI, Kings, and Ducks fan?

Also, I had a convo with a very active Anaheim poster and we agreed this could be in play due to logjam at C.

What log jam? Move zegras to the wing or trade him, or start celebrini on the wing

My loyalties are geographical. I'm an old NY Islander fan because I grew up in New York City but moved to California once the dynasty was over. I got to Los Angeles just in time for the Wayne Gretzky trade, so I've been pretty lucky with my hockey fandom.

I wouldn't trade out of first overall just because we had Leo Carlsson and Mason McTavish in the center and Cutter Gauthier, Mack Celebrini, Troy Terry and Trevor Zegras at forward. In my fantasies, I've thought about the following line combinations: Gauthier - Carlsson - Killorn, Zegras - Celebrini - Strome, and Vatrano - McTavish - Terry. Each line has one forward good in the faceoff circle and a "gunner" (Gauthier, Celebrini, Vatrano), a play-driving distributor (Carlsson, Zegras, Terry), and a defensively-responsible 200-foot character player (Killorn, Strome, McTavish).

Personally, I might bite. Kind of depends on how highly you view Celebrini. If not Celebrini, do you cut McTavish loose for 2OA? Zegras probably isn't bringing back 2OA.

At some point we can't keep loading up the center.

Idk. I think Levshunov is the pick for Anaheim. If Verbeek can get more capital and get his guy, gotta do it. Top 6 is pretty much set for Anaheim.

You think Laughton deserves a first round pick in return. You should always sit this conversation out.

I try to think outside the box! I get bored at work so frequently on here just thinking of way (using past history and what I think is plausible) to make the Flyers better for years to come.

I go off of what GMs say since they run the market. GMs think he is worth a 1st.

I personally have zero interest in biting. If you have Celebrini on the table, you take him. Want a RD? Now that you have 5LHC/LWs, you can entertain moving someone like Zegras for one

It’s all moot anyway. Like 0.6% chances that we end up #1/#2 with the Flyers

There's also the potential risk that Celebrini is a college center and might look at Anaheim having Mason, Leo, Cutter, and Trevor already and decide to pull a Fantilli and have no desire to come to Anaheim.

I'm with you there. If this hypothetical scenario was on the table, I would really take the time to think about it. We would be adding Foerester who's a good size scoring winger plus we can add to our RHD prospect pool by simply taking Levshunov or one of the other food players at other positions near the top. It would be a tough decision to let Celebrini go, but with the center depth we've got so far it would at least cross my mind to consider this deal.

Pull a Fantilli? Did I miss something there?

This feels like a lower risk than the 0.6% odds this scenario becomes a reality imo. It all comes down to messaging and player management. If Celebrini wants to be a top 6 C, then promise him that’s available here in ANA and put your money where your mouth is. He’s a highly talented and projectable top 6 C, so give him that path. If it means McT goes to the wing and/or plays some 3C here and there, so be it 🤷‍♂️

I remember how spoiled the sharks Stanley cup finals team was? Felt like half of their forwards were centers. Thornton, Pavelski, Couture, Hertl, Tierney, and I’m definitely missing a few. It’s a great problem to have, you just need to do a bit of player management

While our season finishes have been rough, I imagine any draftee looking at ANA right now would be excited by the young talent we have and what that bodes for their tenure here

It came out before the draft that Fantillinstrongly preferred to play in Columbus over Anaheim, speculated reasoning was Anaheims depth at C. May have been other reasons too, but I am always cautious about college players for that reason.
