Pass on all the UFAs. Caps need to go big game hunting, not middling players hunting. Also, McM will cost more than that.

Which types of big names do you expect them to pursue?

Just thinking of some names like Zegras, Marner, Laine, Ehlers, Andersson, maybe one of those Utah guys shake loose. Someone on those levels. Caps have some good complimentary players but need legit guys.

What would you be willing to Offer for Zegras? I do think he's a good fit but ANA and their fans have a high ask. They've rejected a 1st, Mesar (former 1st) and Barron (former 1st) for him on this board already

Disagree. Ton of cap space this summer, tradeable assets, and a great GM. Wouldn't be surprised if they had 1-2 top tier guys then it's a matter of Leonard, Miro, Stevenson, Cristall, Chesley, and Iorio coming in.

I don't know about that. This year should be the worst iteration of a Caps team for a while and they still made the playoffs. Already a ton of cap (plus more with Oshie likely to retire and maybe moving Kuemper), Lapierre, McMichael, Miro should only improve, and decent prospects in Leonard, Chesley, Stevenson, and Cristall.

If playoff Ovi is a sign of things to come, then they either have $8.5m in dead cap for a player who shouldn't get more than 5 mins a night or they've got $8.5m in dead cap for a player who will be dead weight for 17 mins a night.
