The Sabres are loaded with Top 6 caliber players, but no truly elite playmaker. Marner fits with Thompson and possibly Peterka on that first line, and it opens up the second line to guys like Ohgren, Savoie, or a new C at the draft or FA.

Cozens has some grizzle to his game, and would end up being the heir apparent to John Tavares as the teams 2C.

Assume Extension.

I initially had Binnington who is younger and has gone on deeper runs, but I settled on Markstrom due to term. You typically know what you will get from Markstrom, he can steal you games. It also opens the door for Dustin Wolf to be that guy.

I hate to make this move, I love Liljegren, but I think the leafs are going to become wary of him. He is almost 25 and has not really become as advertised. The team may grow impatient as they begin to try and make a bunch of changes. He could hold tremendous value for Calgary, as he stop gaps for Brzustewicz, and helps in the event that Andresson leaves in 2 years.

Dewar is a strong depth piece that will give the team energy. Helps add some size to the usually gritty Flames bottom 6.
