Initial Creation Date: Apr. 29, 2024
Published: Apr. 29, 2024

Description
Not bad enough to rebuild, not good enough to contend. Ovi goal chase squad. Turned into more of a fantasy effort because the likely lineup for next year is rough.

Hawks aren't in the business of trading away draft picks unless a player really moves the needle. These two do not and offer nothing they can't capture in free agency without giving up picks.

I'm not sure what the singular price on McMichael would be but I would be interested if he was available for the right price.

Maybe, but is he really going to move the needle from what we already have in the pipeline?

This would be a slam dunk value-wise for the Hawks but I understand where you're coming from. If the Hawks' goal is to improve, McMichael doesn't entirely move the needle much and they wouldn't be able to acquire him for this price anyway, so they'd be giving up a lot more assets for a middle six center. If their goal is to be bad, why would they trade for McMichael? They wouldn't.

Hawks would gave zero interest in Milano. But if they could get McMichael for that Toronto 2nd, that might be something Kyle from Chicago might do.

In the long term, maybe not, but he was pretty highly regarded in his D+1 year. At the very least, you're buying low on a guy who can give Bedard some actual talent to work with (especially if Nazar starts in RFD) to see if he can tap into that potential he was once thought to have. I think he can have an impact similar to Kurashev, if not better. Again, only if the price is right. A 2026 Toronto 2nd rounder doesnt strike me as a particularly high price.
