One year of Marner doesn't return that much.

Kings won't pay anything close to that for Marner. Nor will anyone else.

Marner would resign. I'd almost rather walk away from him next year than take on Dubois, even with that return. But I know we could move him to the Habs for a 7th lol

Yeah, I think the probability that he would resign in LA would be pretty high. But then you have to consider the issue of how bad his next contract will be. Knowing Marner, It certainly won't be reasonable, so LA would have to be comfortable heavily overpaying a winger.

I'm not sure on Dubois, I can see him turn it around and still be a decent player. Maybe not worth his contract, but still a decent player. I also doubt LA is willing to throw the towel in on him already.

Kings wouldn't trade Brandt or Byfield 1 for 1 brother.

Yeah, he doesn't really fill a need for Toronto.

Especially for 8 years at 8.5. Wow what a terrible deal.

It may be a bargain though compared to what Marner will want on his next contract.

Maybe but marner is a much better player though. No way they Leafs give him a crazy amount. He either waives and they get something or they walk away and use the money elsewhere and properly.

It will be interesting to see how that one works out. I can't see the Leafs walking away or moving Marner and I think it's a virtual guarantee he will be looking for more than Nylander, so very interesting as an outsider.

Do you really think they would consider moving Marner?

I would have moved him before the nmc kicked in for sure. I.dont think they have a choice anymore. The team is constructed badly and there are some real ego issues on the team. Dubas really screws up with those big contracts right away too. It really seems like he is only there for the money. I'm not putting it all on him though and I would be OK with blowing up the team.

It is all my fault, I got his jersey and that is usually the kiss of death for a player. He will be the seventh player who's jersey I got then they got traded. 😔

I agree with you on the contracts. Basically the players got everything, term, money and control and the team got nothing contract wise. It really set then up for a fall.

I feel for you on the sweaters, that sucks. But at least you have a nice selection of historic Leaf stars.smile
