Do the Rangers have a higher cap than other teams?

Know what all cup contenders have in common? They build from the net out, the Leafs goaltending is still too shakey to be considered a cup contender

Exactly lol in order for Marner to come to the NYR, goodrow and Trouba would have to be going the other way

NYR needs the players going out more than the player coming back. So I suggest trade him elsewhere. No need for him here.

Marner to NYR only works 2 ways..

For Goodrow and Trouba who’s say no to TOR.

Or

For panarin 1 for 1

Those are the only options with NYR.

Edited Apr. 27 at 1:34 p.m.. Reason: added explanatory phrase
Rangers were sixth in the League in goals-for this season; they don't need more scoring. Marner is valuable as far more than just a scorer, of course, with his two-way game and Selke-Trophy-contending defensive skills, but his cap hit is too high and the term on his contract is too short. Most teams don't want him not because he has little value but because he's too good and has basically priced himself out of the market.

Rangers don't even consider that absurd trade offer.

Panarin for Marner 1 for 1? No chance, Leafs would have to add.

I don't think it's a bad framework. Simply swap Miller for Trouba and Kakko for a 2nd and you're in the ballpark.

Wouldn’t be much and the positional switch would benefit NYR plus the 700k in cap. The age for resigning is better. I’d do 1 for 1. Marner is also better defensively while panarin is better offensively. Pick your poison.

If we have to shed them, it's for cap, not an expensive egg shell. Not an option

I'll take the breadman every day of the week, especially the player we saw this season so far. He is shooting much more and will be a 40+ goal player every year if he continues shooting.

Marner is coming into his prime and panarin won’t be the same 3-4 years from now. If we are talking about the next 82 games, sure. But a real GM thinks about more than just today which is why Kakko hasn’t been traded. Marner is what bread was when NYR signed him.

Marner disappears when the going gets tough...aka, the playoffs and that's why Leaf fans want him gone. Milk Carton Mitch....LOL. No thanks.

Hyman had similar stats in Toronto. I heavily blame the coach for his stats as well. He's a top 10 winger in the league. Many teams would drool to have him.

That's not the question. My point is this proposed trade for him is a HUGE overpay by the Coyotes. All I was saying.

It’s 100% the coach, the big 4 are all in the same category. None of them have that junk yard dog quality to them. It’s just skill that’s not surrounded by the right people.
