I don't frankly think Necas is that good. He's fast, and he can score, but he doesn't drive play, he doesn't do much defensively, and his hockey IQ doesn't wow either. His success seems mostly driven by being fast enough to be in the right place for his center to dish him the puck to score easy goals.

Not saying that isn't what Vatrano also did to hit 37, but I don't think I'd give Necas over 6 mil AAV, he's a complimentary scorer.

This

He would be similar situation to Dubois in he will cost to much to obtain and cost to much to retain than the production he would bring

I’m fully with these takes. At his current $3M deal he’s a steal. But what he’ll negotiate is going to be regrettable for whatever team offers it imo.

One of the only negative +/- Canes despite >60% of his shifts starting in the offensive zone. Negative relative advanced stats across the board. Giveaways 2x vs takeaways. Awful in the face off circle. I’d absolutely prefer ANA to look elsewhere

I think that price might be a bit steep for Anaheim. Especially for how much Necas might be asking for on the market

Only concern is that we'd be on the no-trade list.

Canes fan here... Necas has nearly as much skill as any player in the league but his inability to put it together consistently is frustrating at times for sure. I think he's stays a wing (even if he thinks he can play in the middle.) The only thing I'd mention in regards to his offense is that he hasn't had the opportunity to play with a legitimate top 6 C over the last 2 years. He doesn't play with Aho and the C depth doesn't offer a ton offensively-speaking behind him. Defensively he is what he is; you'll always want more with that size/speed/length combo but he's also not as bad as some will make him out to be. I think he's a player that can help nearly any team on the right deal but that deal can't start with a 7 and even the mid 6's is a stretch at times.

I think we’re all saying the same thing. Everyone here (incl ANA fans) like Necas.

The issue is that his next deal will almost certainly reach an AAV that none of us think he’s worth, which is why CAR fans are willing to move him, and why the RW-needy Ducks are happy to let someone else trade for him
