I'm confused by your response. Giving us a 3rd and 7th for a fifth is paying us.

Calgary has no interest in Graves unless he comes with retention. He's too old for Calgary to consider taking on a contract with that much term and AAV.

this team is garbage.
1st you spend to cap max with nothing but long term contracts when you got Crosby, MP, and DOC probably getting a raise next year.

Then the signing are just horrible.
You giving DeBrusk 6x5..... you giving Duclair 3x4.5.
DeBrusk is a 40 pt player... H'e's basically Smith in a bad year.
Duclair is a 40 pt player,..He's basically Smith who cherry picks on the blue line and doesn't play defense.

No thanks to both. They are better off keep Smith who's contract expires at the end of the year then getting roped up in that garbage. There are reasons Duclair can't find a long term home.

You want to pay Monahan 6.5 mil to play 12-13 minutes a night on the 3rd line. Hard pass. That cap can be spent better elsewhere.
I'd rather take that cap and the DeBrusk cap and bring Jake back for a combined less cap hit and have an actual 1LW again.
Which should have been the point of signing a natural LW in Teräväinen, instead of putting him on the RW 2nd line.

Some of those 4th line signings too. Carrier cousins.... they going back to their current team on those cap hits. Not only is it better for them tax wise, they already live there. If they are happy there they will stay there.
