I figured Spurgeon being hurt for 75% of the season would bring his value down, and if Minnesota does want to do a re-tool this would clear a ton of cap space for them. But I guess if they want to hold onto him then yeah the offer would probably have to be a bit higher.

MN should take that and run, there are much better ways for them to spend the $7.5m in cap. They were still a top-5 (5v5) defense this year without Spurgeon. Goaltending and lack of FWD depth is what sunk their season.

For some reason I completely missed Hayton being in the deal. That’s a fair analysis. I just don’t see Billy G moving him tbh. Regardless, I don’t see Utah doing either of these trades.

I'd guess Spurgeon would have them on his 10 team NTC and he kills it.
