Amazing Draft

Created by: BigE
Team: 2024-25 Chicago Blackhawks
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 17, 2024
Published: Apr. 17, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Just for fun - What a draft it would be if they win the lottery and get Celebrini...then move up to get Eiserman who at one point was in the discussion with Celebrini to be #1. Even if this happens, Eiserman is likely to play at least 1 year at BU - but you never know - perhaps the allure of playing with Bedard and Celebrini gets him to sign immediately (for future cap reasons, the Hawks may not want him to anyway, so I realize this is a pipe dream for next year).

Sabres with zero reason to trade back

Just used them as a placeholder - I'm seeing Eiserman go a few picks later than 10 right now. Hawks have a ton of picks in the next 3 drafts to use as assets.... Also I've read in a few places that the consensus of this draft is that after the first 5 picks, there isn't much of a difference to mid 2nd round....so, if this is true, the Sabres or any other team could be tempted to stockpile more picks and still get the same value with later picks.

Sabres laugh & hang up
And no other team is likely to do that either

So trading one pick to get multiple picks to pick more than one prospect cus the Sabres have enough prospects? Okay

Obviously won't happen, but this would be so fun. The idea of trading up for Eisserman applies in general even if we miss Celebrini. Getting him plus Lindstrom or one of the D would still be a great haul

I would think PHI would be a team interested in something like this; they need depth in their prospect pool. The question is whether a player the Hawks want will be there at #12 OA?

No thanks on Eiserman, yes he was once rated at the top of this draft class but there are legitimate reasons for why he has dropped. I would rather see them move up and grab Catton.

PIT is a team that really needs to do something like this, as their prospect pool is hurting from have been raided so often to stay competitive and they're low on higher picks this year and next. Apart from Yager and goaltenders, they badly need to replenish their pool. But they don't have their 1st rounder this year, either, to effect such a trade!

Moving up would probably involve TBL 1st which is 18 or 19 right now, CHI 2nd which is 34th, and possibly the Hawks 2025 1st top 2 protected. At least. In my opinion. Idk how that fancy points chart works though.

The Sabres have lots of prospects. Trading for additional lesser ones is the opposite of what they should do. I wouldn't be surprised if they were the ones offering quantity for quality, their gm sounded like there's urgency now, it's not just letting the kids develop anymore.

Well, you've gotta ask why you're so willing for the Blackhawks to value moving up over using all those picks. It's for the same reason other teams are unlikely to do so -- especially if it's a club like Buffalo, who've got one of the better prospect pools. Why do they want a bunch of more risky prospects instead of just picking one of the top 20 or so draftees that looks to be better than average?

trading one pick for future assets that will be worth more when trading for actual nhl players because you'll actually (Hopefully) be a playoff team, yes. Rebuild and hockey 101
