Offseason 2

Created by: PenaFanatic
Team: 2024-25 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 17, 2024
Published: Apr. 17, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I feel like Matthew Mcconaughey in interstellar and watching the Penguins stanley cup runs on youtube. Sad days. With that being said this version of the Penguins offseason is an aggressive approach.

Start: Coaching staff fired. Time is not in our favour. Sullivan is a great amongst Pens coaches but this isnt 2016.... missed playoffs and first round exits its over. Fire Reirden into the sun.
Prediction: Jay Leach as coach. Mike Vellucci I think gets a look somewhere else.

I think they should hire David Carle as coach.
He's good at building a team and developing players.

Skjei isn't going to sign that. Like a dozen teams beat that anyway.
why bring back Shea? he'll be 28 next year and is clearly not an NHL defenseman.

I don't think there is a way to fix this team in FA. They need help from their prospect to come in and fill roles if they are to be a legit contender.

Hawks obviously decline. They wouldn't trade Donato for that 5th if Rakell wasn't in the deal. Can't imagine the Hawks would have any interest in Rakell w/ 4 years left on his deal.

Canucks decline too. Graves won't be that easy to move.

I don't think anyone is taking Rakell's contact. Unfortunately some contacts just don't work out. When Chicago dumped Bickell's contract it cost them Terrevainen.

Even with the proposed retention, Rackell will still cost the acquiring team $4m + for four more seasons… he’s not worth it. If Pittsburgh is able to deal him, there will be an equally bad contract coming back or they will have to attach a 1st round pick to Rackell.
