Description

The Flames just keep pushing the rebuild down the road.
Should have started last year, could have flipped Huberdeau and Weeger for futures at the deadline instead of resigning them. The team looks good on paper, but Reinhart, Kuzmenko and Sharangovich probably all revert to league average shooters. The team probably ends up selling at the deadline again and overpaying UFAs to keep the cycle going.

He just has way too high of a cap hit for his production. I don’t see any team trading for him without retention.

This isn't a retool this is setting the team up for disaster for the next decade

He's a UFA so probably gonna be half retained either at the deadline or a few months prior barring injury

Mangiapanes production has a lot to do with his usage. Calgary can't go best on best with their top line, so every night Mangi, Backlund and Coleman are matched up against the best lines in the league. The cap hits still high but it's not terrible for what he brings.

Do those words look familiar? Reinhart won't be signing for 1 year.

Florida can offer Sam Reinhart 8 x $9,000,000 and he'd take home far more money than in Calgary.

He'd take home less per year, but of course the 8th year is huge. But can Florida afford to pay him that? It's about half of the cap space they have available and they would still have to sign another 6 or 7 players.
