getting pick 14

Description
Assuming the draft lottery positions stay where they are now and Detroit just misses the playoffs.

Detroit's goals against was not great this year, so maybe some defensive minded players could help with that.

I am thinking that maybe Detroit is willing to part ways with the draft pick and go for immediate help, since they have been spending money on free agents recently and seem to be out of their rebuild stage.

Winnipeg pick at # 26 for Detroit's pick at #14.

Montreal takes Greentree at #14.

As a Habs fan, I don't really see Yzeman doing that.

No reason for us to trade down. We need more high end talent.

Maybe not, but this would be #26 + #60 (Colorado- approximately) + #45 (Pittsburgh in 2025- approximately) for #14 plus 2 serviceable NHL players that could help Detroit keep the puck out of the next for a low cost. It is not horrible.

What do you think Montreal would have to add? A bad contract coming back? Another young player like Harris or Barron?

I understand your point, but the Jets pick will likely gonna end up in the 22-23th range, I don't see them passing on Dallas or Colorado.

And I don't really see Yzeman doing that because I think that he will gonna try with his pick to bring maybe a '' better quality asset ''.

I see more Montreal targeting the pick from PIT who is now with SJ.

As far as actual value goes, this is an over pay.

Or Yzerman keeps his pick and moves up in the draft?

He's never done this before! 🤔

Not sure this is a draft worth moving up in.

Guessing he either stays or moves it for RHD help. If he trades down I seriously doubt it's ~10 spots down.

I originally thought about including Barron or Savard (both RHD). Would Detroit consider them in a package for #14?

If Detroit's moving that pick I'd hope and expect that it's for a RHD better than Barron or Savard.

Detroit passes, That joke of an offer isn't getting you the 14th overall pick.

Looking at pick value, the trade is fair. Not sure DET is the good partner however.

Washington would be a better fit if they miss the playoffs.
