I can't imagine the center-poor Wild trading you ONE of their two young centermen, let alone both.

I get that but they do get Frost back. Maybe switch in another young guy instead of Marat but I wanted him because he and Michkov both played on Sochi in this KHL season

Sabres LAUGH at that dude
Hysterical

There’s just no chance we give u one of our good prospects for a bottom6 forward

You waited a year too long if u wanted to get good value for Laughton imo

Is he that good? Will he be better than a middle 6 player? Laughton can play up and down the lineup and I think the sabres might want the leadership and mentality that he brings for all of the young players. A 4th rounder on top of that too. But again I could be ignorant to how good Ostlund really is because I don't know much about him.

You're just not getting Marco Rossi out of the Wild. He's projected to be their #2C of the future and he hasn't disappointed them yet.

You have to admit that so far, Frost doesn't look like more than a bottom-6 center and he turns 25 next month, which means that whatever team holds his rights next summer is going to have to decide after only one season the length and size of his long-term contract or else trade him. With that reality in mind, I can see the possibility of Minnesota exchanging the three-years-younger Kiss-My-Thing-Off for Frost, but if either of the two has a future as a top-6 center, it's the Russian, not Frost.

If Laughton was gonna get a premium, it would have been done by now. I would rather the Sabres package a couple young prospects and go big game hunting.

1- yes, Ostlund is a good prospect. He was drafted in the mid1st round, 16th overall. Asking for Ostlund isn’t much different than asking for Savoie

2- Laughton is a declining bottom6 quality forward. I don’t see us being interested in him

Everyone has said this for 3 straight offseasons and a 1st has been offered by a last 1 team each of the 3 offseasons. Get a grip on urself 😂

Don’t disagree with anything ur saying except I do believe Frost has looked like more of a 2C now that Torts has finally given him real minutes over the last few months. He will never be a 1C and probably won’t ever be a good 2C but he could pass for a 2C in a jam I think and be a high-end 3C especially with the right minutes on a contender.

Laughton was one of the worst players in the league this year, Ostlund is a top 6 prospect

bet the farm the sabres overpay for Laughton this summer, but it won't be ostlund. Mgmt isn't trading any of their first rounders in the minors.

Then Philly should’ve taken it
Laughton wasn’t good this year
You’re not getting a 1st for him- not from Buffalo anyways

the only lineup versatility laughton has had this year is being able to play all 3 forward positions. he hasn't been able to play above a 3rd line level for an extended period of time other than the week before the deadline. since then he's been a 4th liner at best

ostlund has top 6 potential - low end 1st line, good 2nd liner more than likely

The issue is the rumor is the Wild are open to moving Rossi because of concerns about his size compared to his ceiling at this point. I think the hope was he'd be the next Brayden Point when they drafted him and while he still has room for growth, I'm guessing they're worried he won't get to where they thought he would. The problem is the return in this scenario is another center under 6' tall with a ceiling that is probably lower and a very late 1st round pick that you're unlikely to get the type of player that develops into a franchise center at. I think if this is the offer, they just keep Rossi and see where he peaks. 20 goals in his first full year is still a good start to his NHL career.

I know Khusnutdinov hasn't lit the world on fire yet, but I'd hope they wouldn't be so quick to throw in the towel on a guy who hasn't even had a full training camp or even more than a handful of practices with the team. Maybe this time next year it's an option if he doesn't seem like he'll pan out.
