Trading Hutson would be one of the biggest mistakes

Hutson is more valuable than Holtz

MTL would be foolish to trade Hutson for anything right now. The potential is too intriguing. Also, Holtz doesn't hold that kind of value.

The rest seems alright, 4 years for Marchessault is probably too long at that cap hit.

I disagree on that point personally but I can see where you're coming from, and this is certainly an overpay for Holtz, to the point where NJD should accept it and flip the assets even though it doesn't fit our needs.

I didnt really look into Hutson, i just saw a 2nd rounder from a few years back.... something more equivalent to a 2nd is my target value.

In terms of pieces of interest to NJD on MTLs roster

Jake Evans
Montembault
Guhle
Anderson with 50% retention could be of interest at the value of about a day 2 pick
And then obviously prospects and picks

To get absolutely ridiculous with it.

NJD 2024 1st+Holtz+2025 2nd+Schmid for Guhle+Montembault+Anderson 50%+Evans

Since he was drafted, Hutson broke the record for most pts by a rookie D in the NCAA ever, had better numbers than Quinn and Luke Hughes and is a finalist for the hobey Baker for the second year in a row

Holtz is good, but he has limited potential and New Jersey’s management clearly don’t like him. There is clearly something we don’t know about him

I think pens accept but the pic has to be conditional on games played.
Maybe a 4th for at least 65 games played?
or a 5th for at least 45 games played?

I’d take that Marchessault deal all day

why would the penguins want to clutter up their bottom 6 with another older under performing player.
They don't need that. If they can manage to move one of of Eller or Acciari they already got a young player or two to put in there. No need to spend cap to bring in another body.
