Why would Carolina give you a budding star player for a near-bust and a 27th overall pick?

There is a world where Carolina listen to offers from Chicago for Necas. This ain't it. It's light. I think it's a workable starting point, but Riechel is a reclamation project at this point. I could see a world where an offer starts with the Leafs and Lightning 1st rounders. but there isn't much else I can think of that Carolina would want.

One of Vlasic or Korchinski would be nice in theory, but Nikishin kind of means it's not a need. Bedard would be huge, and I will personally drive Necas to Chicago if that happens, but it won't. But... outside of that... maybe one of Moore or Nazar could be interesting? I just don't see it

Having a healthy Hall is essentially a new linemate for Bedard.

That offer for Necas isn't close. Canes easily decline. Doubtful Hawks would offer up what it would take to get Necas. And Hawks aren't paying anything (even a 7th) for Ceci. Back to the drawing board...

Surly we can get more for Ceci, and we also wouldn’t trade him unless we had a replacement lined up.

Obviously Reichel doesn't have as much value as a year ago but he's not really a reclamation project. He's still only 21. He's only had one bad season.

Maybe I haven't been watching enough of him but I would not give Necas an 8x8. He's never been a ppg or a 30 goal scorer before and it's not like he's insanely young either. 25 obviously is still young but it's not like he's 22. For an 8x8 to be worth it in my opinion he either needs to be a 1st line player or elite 2C on a championship level team

He's had a few. He's struggled in NA. He's had one good AHL season

My brother in christ don't even mention that name. He already has more points than Necas, including the time he missed with the broken jaw.

And? I'm just saying, outside of him, not a lot here worth moving Necas for

CHI isn't buying Necas. I would much rather keep Reichel and make that pick, anyway. I doubt Henrique would even consider signing with CHI.

No. I know it's all the rage here at CF to send Ceci to Chicago, but the fit isn't there and Ceci is worth more than a 7th by far. He'll return a 2nd or be part of a trade for an upgrade.

And to the OP: in this situation Ceci would be playing above Murphy. He's better.

You should combine the two trades into one: Ceci for Reichel.

cool

Bro he absolutely sucks. He has no value pretty much. You're literally the first person I've heard say that he isn't negative value.

I do agree Hall fits the 'new linemate', but long-term was more my thinking. Don't worry, I'm well aware that offer isn't close and that it is almost guaranteed not to happen. Just thought it would be an interesting avenue to explore as a Bedard + Necas combo would be terrifying to play against

I know the offer is light, was just exploring a possibility of having the next superline

8 million might be a tad rich, but it would be worth it imo, especially if he were to be moved to chicago (although highly unlikely). he can play center, he just doesn't, and with his offensive output he fits the high-end 2C for me if he were to play the middle. him being a 30 goal scorer is irrelevant imo, he isn't a shot-first player

if he plays with bedard, i think he easily gets 80+ points

What a sad take. His last 5 or 6 NHL coaches all played him in their top-4, against the hardest competition. You should pay attention to what NHL coaches do - they're pretty good at their job. And when multiple coaches come the same conclusion and you think the opposite, it's time to rethink your sad, biased takes.
