I'll quote myself from another thread, where people were discussing if Kakko is worth -25 Top 10 pick and some other clown was comparing him to Yakupov.
"The thing is that even though Kakkos point production is disappointing, he's actually overall good player unlike Yakupov, without any attitude problems. He's possession monster and like Rangers' best defensive forward. They have been a lot better team with Kakko in roster than they were, when he was ínjured. Will get a first easily, but not top10."
Tbh if he'd been 10-15 ovr pick instead of 2nd ovr, people wouldn't be calling him a bust. Disappointing maybe, but not a bust.
And when you are just checking stats, even though this season has been disappointing, last season he produced 40 points (37 even strength) with bottom-6 TOI and 00:53 TOIPP. One weak season doesn't change his value that much. Especially someone who just turned 23. At that age i.e Thompson had 12p in 65 games and Nichuskin or Kaprizov didn't even play in NHL.
Rangers have absolutely no interest to trade him for bunch of scraps. To move him would require Rangers to receive immediate help for their RW. Even though trade somewhere where he could get consistent TOP-6 minutes with PP time would be best for Kakko. Sharks for example. Would be their best RW (doesn't require much though).
And no, I'm not a Rangers fan. Would be happy if Flyers acquired him and RW wouldn't be the strongest part of the team.
