*This is purely my opinion. No trades assumed. Only RFAs LA has the rights to are signed.

Several teams have gotten a lot better in the Western Conference, specifically in the Pacific Division. LA has great players it can count on: Kopitar, Carter, Doughty, and Quick (if healthy.) They have some secondary scoring options in Toffoli and Pearson but I don't believe LA can currently call themselves the cream of the Pacific Division anymore, let alone the league. Their star players and decent depth have them at 22.

If Quick stays healthy and we have a few rebound years (Kopitar and Toffoli), I see us battling for 3rd in the Pacific or a WC. Once your in, anything can happen. Kings won two cups by finishing in the 8th seed and finishing 3rd, but were playing really great hockey. Two years ago, they went into the playoffs playing piss poor hockey and crapped the bed. Not that I am predicting a cup, but I don't think the team is as "regressed" as people make it out.

It's also hard to say last year defines how the Kings will continue considering that Quick only played 17 games last year and a new (hopefully) offensive minded system will be implemented.
