Not entirely sure this gets you Mike Matheson alone. This offer is not close from Montreal's perspective.

That's great because TB wouldn't offer it
1 Gauthier isn't available.
2 no chance TB affords Matheson next year especially not Toffoli on top.
3 you're higher than a satellite if you think Matheson gets that.

the extra pieces in the Matheson trade are basically canceling themselves package for package so it essentially Matheson or Howard and a 2nd I'm not sure how much value Howard has as a prospect right now because of how well he's playing, personally i wouldn't trade Matheson for a prospect , id trade him for a young player already in the NHL
