Wait so Markstrom is worth a 1st, 2nd, Holtz and Rees? That seems like a bit much.

The cost to Toronto for Chris Tanev retained at 50% is their 2024 1st rd pk.

And Craig Conroy already said no on retaining on Jacob Markstrom.

Only to you guys. For NJD trying to send him to Calgary clearly a cap dump. I hear once a guy lands in Canada (I’m Canadian so I can make the joke) his value goes up 10x

That's only Montreal, leave the rest of Canada out of it.

I’d say all of the Canadian fanbases are the most out of touch generally

Boston ain't trading Lohrei to get Hanifin, I would say deal Grez a prospect and then the 1st and not worry about salary retention

That CGY fan is terrible at these. And the reports were Calgary was OFFERED a 1st and a prospect for Tanev but turned it down for now hoping to get a 1st

Well they may come to regret that decision as there's a thing called overplaying the hand

If its true not taking a 1st and prospect for Tanev is a very stupid move by Conroy

Hes been taking market value for everyone but Lindholm (who had the highest value)

That would have been robbery as per Lebrun CGY is just asking for a 2nd.

That's not true. Calgary knows they can get a 2nd+ for Tanev, they are holding out to get a 1st or more due to the high interest in him from something like 12 teams. Flames definitely decline that offer[/quote]

Forgot the + which really could be anything but I suspect is someone close or contributing rn at the NHL lvl (bottom 6 or B lvl guy)

But yea if Flames declined what the other guy said 1st + prospect thats not good

As its a gamble to wait to much sometimes we saw it happen last TDL with some guys who were supposed to get traded but GM asked to much then ended up getting little to nothing lul.

Tanev should get a nice return but Conroy also got to be careful

Substitute two of the following for Lohrei and my belief is this is realistic

Merkulov or Faranacci
Harrison
Brunet

Or shift the pick to a 2nd rounder with Lohrei.

Last year was a buyers market though. Lots of teams were selling off. This year has been a sellers market, the Monahan trade is evident of that.

Sellers market for centers sure.

The last dman sold tho was Zadorov and did his return indicate a sellers market?

Zadorov was traded in November. That is not an indication at all of the deadline market because nobody has accrued any relevant amount of cap space.

The indication of the deadline market for defensemen is the lack of quality options and the amount of teams looking to add a defenseman. The fact Tanev is the guy holding up the market and that there is a very legitimate chance he returns a 1st (at least conditional on health) proves it's a sellers market.

That makes little to no sense

They want a 1st so they turned down a 1st + because they want a 1st?

Not to mention with Tanev’s injury history, Conroy is playing a dangerous game
