Valimaki was a waiver claim, Hayton isn't integral to their success and they have a ton of picks in a not so fantastic draft year.

Who cares if he was a waiver claim, hes a good dman playing decent minutes. Hayton has had injury issues year but is at worst a good 3rd line C and could be a decent 2nd line C. The pick is probably going to be in the 15-20, so before the drop off. Plus, is this deal coming with a negotiated extension, if not no way they give up controllable assets for a rental. It makes no sense

You don't have to be a buyer this year. With an extension, he'll be there for a long while. Yotes have youth (a lot of it) and are going to need some vets while still keeping the team young. Hanifin is a unicorn and he would make the Yotes better now and in the future.

there is no way they flames would get a better return than this. 2 young controllable roster players and a top 20 pick. Its the best they could hope for
