Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Clearing cap space for Colorado, getting that fill in goalie while retaining assets for a push to get Henrique or whoever.

Lightning get a guy they know well who can at the very least help Vasy out lmao. They take on $1.5M and get rid of a guy who is often scratched in most acgms I see. Fills in for Sergachev at a very small price, and they can go out and get a pricier guy too.

Retained salary plans for future;

Don't re-sign Pearson(just lowball him)

Evans, Sheary, or Armia retention can be offshored at a small price(Bonino last year)

Which saves the spot for potentially Anderson, Johansen, Dvorak

Can't lie I don't hate it, same time though I'm not sure how it would impact the cap for next season with guys like Stamkos needing a new deal and lineup slots to fill.

Also this probably doesn't happen unless Sheary is willing to waive his NTC and go up to Canada.

Allen won't bring enough value to justify using a retention slot on him.
We would be better off buying him out if we can't get a team to take his full cap hit.
It will cost an extra ~$400k vs retaining and he'll get to sign anywhere he chooses for cheap.
The buyout cost the following year is only ~$750k, negligible.

Better off keeping Savard if that's the return as well.
If we don't make the playoffs next year he'll bring a better return as a rental than this.
If we do make the playoffs, we're going to need him.

thought was get anything from Allen, and hope to sort of rejuvenate Johansen, and in turn flip him for more assets than they can get from Allen. They're the same age too. On Savard; he'll be 33 and still on a not great deal. I don't see him getting a 2nd. He's great at blocking shots and his leadership is top notch, but this deal and the other one opens space for the young guys to really be tested. And hey, the Habs weren't awful without him when he's been injured.

Yes, it's giving up on them and risking it but its something that deserves a thought.
