News flash, Buffalo homers -- Anaheim wouldn't trade Zegras for Kulich, Ostlund AND the undersized Savoie.
There's a qualitative difference between a proven first-line LW with back-to-back 60-point-plus seasons before the age of 23 and three prospects who have one, zero and one NHL game on their resumes, respectively.
Yeah, three years down the road one, two or all three of them may prove to be first-class talents. Or they may not. We don't have to wait to see how they or Zegras perform.
Peyton Krebs was drafted in the same round as Zegras, and has 88 fewer points (58 to 146) in 18 fewer NHL games (182 to 200) than Zegras even though Zegras has been injured for all but 5 games this season. Kulich (drafted 28th overall), Ostlund (drafted 16th overall), Savoie (drafted 9th overall) and Isak Rosen (drafted 14th overall) all have bright futures but all have yet to make their mark. Potential is not the same as proven performance.
