But Tomas Novak as a trade target not so much.

That's exactly what I'm saying. He broke out last season, looked incredible. Slumping a bit at center this season but could be a solid depth target for a team looking for overperforming rentals with a low cap hit. I've had my eye on him for a couple years. The cap hit makes it very attractive. NSH hasn't re-signed so I assume there's some doubt he does. Completely speculating.

I don't think you understand how this works. If you haven't signed a UFA heading into a TDL there's a chance they can get moved. Maybe you sign him in the off-season, maybe you just move on completely but IF YOUR PRIORITY WAS TO RE-SIGN HIM THAN YOU WOULD HAVE DONE IT BY NOW. Pretty simple logic. I'm sure if 1 insider mentions his name he'll be in every AGM NSH trade for the next month.

There's been no mention of moving Novak at all. It's likely Trotz waits out his options by the TDL. If we move Novak, our 2C becomes Sissons. He's more useful to us than a late second. There's no rush to sign him in January lol. I don't know why you're so worked up over a bad trade proposal

If Nashville missies the playoffs, of course Novak would be available. A GM is not doing his job if he doesn’t trade a rental UFA out for assets.

Maybe Nashville resigns Novak in the offseason. Still they would trade him. Like when Arizona traded UFA Bjudstad and then resigned him.
