Xhekaj

Description
There are rumors that some teams are interested in Xhekaj and offers have been made.

If the offer is on, I think Hughes has to pull the trigger on this. Xhekaj wont be more than a bottom pairing D and we have tons of it, might as well get some good value out of an overpriced asset.

Heres what I think could be realistic

These players hold a variety of different values so I'm unclear as to how exactly you're valuing Xhekaj. For example, Turcotte should hold very little value given his injury history & lack of offensive progress in the AHL. Meanwhile, Bourque ought to hold a fair bit more due to his greater degree of success than either Podkolzin or Holloway, though both have produced well at the AHL level. Holloway is once again on EDM's roster and seems to be meshing well with his role so that changes the calculation, as well. Lastly, Frost is obviously the only established player among them and he's shown himself to be a competent middle-6 C with some upside.

In any case, from EDM's perspective, I don't imagine they'd be even remotely interested in such a swap. They've got plenty of LD and already have Broberg ready to slot in the moment and injury or trade happens & I'd place more value on what I've seen from Holloway than what I've seen from Xhekaj, though YMMV.

I really like Xhekaj. Canucks depth on the left side however, is Hughes/Soucy/Zadorov/Cole. In addition they have a massive amount of LHD in the minors/prospects. For this reason I dont see Xhekaj as an option they will trade for.

Montreal shouldn't trade away Xhekaj for any of them... except Bourque who's untouchable IMO.

Canucks don’t have space for Xhekaj. They have Hughes and Soucy signed for 3+ years, and will almost certainly bring back one of Cole or Zadorov. Xhekaj would be stuck in the AHL, would rather keep the prospect with the higher ceiling who would also actually have a spot on the NHL roster.

Your own admission of what you think Xhekaj will be stunts the entire purpose of this discussion. If this player is only projected to be a career bottom-pairing defender, why are you asking teams to part with pieces of value for him?
