Only at the eve of TD - a 1st round pick is more likely.

Sharks definitely decline.

Montreal probably does as well, simply because they don't need Poulin and they'd want a better return if they're retaining on Monahan's already movable contract.

I can get that. What would they want for Emberson? He was a 3rd round pick, is playing fairly well, and is young. He was a waiver claim in the offseason. He is also on the IR so a trade would be dependent on his health.

I just saw the name Ty Smith and immediately declined.

Sharks will likely just keep Emberson.

He's 23 and played fairly well and are a rebuilding team. So something that helps them now and in the future more than him and that is more than he could return on the open market. Smith and a 3rd aren't that.

HA HA HA HA HA. I included him because he was young, has some pedigree and his first name was also Ty.

Totally fair. I don't see anything as off limits to the sharks but if your argument is that they would want more, I can see that.

I personally wouldn't give more (he is still a gamble) but I get it.

Poulin is a bust. I'm not considering it at all.

He's 22 and been playing professionally for less than 3 seasons. How is he a bust?

A 0.5ppg foward in the AHL with mental and physical health issues?

If you can't compete in the AHL over 3 seasons, you're a bust.

75 players of the 2019 draft have played more NHL games than him already, even if the Pens have lacked foward depth for years. Even they know...

He might end up making the big league as a bottom 6 player, like Poehling, but he's far from 1st round material anymore.

You're giving up a 3rd and a guy who cleared waivers this season and hasn't done much in the AHL. 3rds aren't worth that much, unless Emberson was playing at a level where he would be waived, why would San Jose consider moving him for that return?

Right. So I would agree that he hasn't been as good as his draft ranking but that doesn't make him a bust.

He has played a total of about 100 professional games (1.5 seasons) and is 22. He could be a bust but that likely won't be known for another 2-3 years.

Well Ty Smith is a 23yo former 1st round pick who has 26 points in 36 AHL games this season (9th in the AHL) and has 5 points in 4 games for Team Canada.

How is that not doing much?

I actually like him more than POJ, but the Pens don't and I am not their actual GM.

I'm also trading for a guy who was also waived but didn't clear.
