Canucks probably accept this trade.
But it’s missing something 🤔
Doesn’t Buffalo want Vancouver’s prospects?
Will that help for Buffalo?

The last thing the sabres need are more prospects lol. Moving Olofsson, EJ and Gus would be strictly salary relief. Although I highly doubt ownership retains upwards of 5 mil just to get some mid round picks.

the retain is proportional to the games left I think - I think Olofsson retained would be wanted more by the Oilers than Van, as for Van prospects the Sabres could use a young gritty bottom six guy whats up with Podkolzin, The team I think might want a retained EJ is Toronto

Retaining $5mil is better than paying $10mil

That's about what I'm imagining might happen with EJ.

That’s true forgot that. But I still have a tough time imagining them retaining on that many players to not play here. He seems to have a thing about that (pegula)

since this is at the TDL the actual retention would be slightly over $1,250,000.
A 3rd, two 4ths and a 5th would be a decent return.

That is not true.
A team looking for secondary scoring would be interested to grab Olofsson for a 3rd.
GMs know he is playing 4th line minutes and will scout his performance and not his stats.
The AVEs may be very happy to only pay a 4th Erik Johnson, as vet RHD carry intrinsic value beyond their production.
Okposo may be happy for one more shot at the play offs while his 8 goals in a half season may bring more than a 4th.
Girgensons MAY RETURN a 7th with retention.
He maybe the most disappointing of all the Sabres.

True tbh
see my comments above.
Those 4 have very LITTLE VALUE but so do 4th round picks.

Finally, when did a GM ever say he had TOO MANY prospects.

It is unlikely Buffalo could or would move all 4 players, but they all (except Z) have attributes that other GMs may pay to aquire.
