Tavares won't want to play 2nd line and once Liljegren, Fabbro, Dermott, etc. come off their ELVs they're screwed..,

Both Tavares and Doughty would be able to fetch more $$$ if they hit the market. At the very least, you're $1mil off for each in terms of cap hit, and I wouldn't be suprised if they both get $10mil+ AAV

After seeing McDavid's deal, you think 2 years later, when the cap has gone up, playing in a much bigger market, that matthews will take 4.5 million less per season?

You think Nylander and Marner will regress to the point they make Blake Wheeler money?

The Tavares and Doughty salaries are fine, because if Tavares is coming to Toronto, it will be for a discount, but this reads like a fairly tale of a naive 12 year old fan.

Matthews will sign for 8 years $13-$15 million a year.

You will have to choose between Marner and Nylander and they will get likely $9-10 million a year.

You will then have to trade the other one next year for Doughty when he has 1 year left and you can sign him to an extension.

You will then be in salary cap jail with $30 million plus tied up in 3 players.

    Yay

So 9.5 is 4.5 less than 12.5? Matthews can't demand mcdavid money unless he wins a scoring title this upcoming season. Nylander and marner are comparable to Gaudreau and Forsberg contracts. Tavares takes the Stamkos contact to win a cup in his hometown and Doughty takes the Brent Burns contract.

It reads a lot better than your level of math skills...Matthews will be good but he is not McDavid...

McDavid's salary should affect no other young superstar. He is a freak who is miles ahead of Matthews, Eichel, Laine, and others.
