Connor is an offer sheet. How will WPG match?
Matthews = Jones+Dubois in my mind
Nylander=Rakell but Nylander is 3 years younger and kick starts Anaheim's rebuild.
I agree with the Pesce deal although just a bit - maybe a 2nd instead of a 3rd.

Trade Nylander for Connor, since I can't see ANA making that deal straight up.
If TOR is close to the CAP, why can't CAR just give KK an offer sheet and keep Pesce?
Giving KK an offer sheet of $4m or less only costs one first, one second and one third (which is what is proposed to get Connor, instead of the four 1st round picks for an $8M contract).</div></div>
You do realize the compensation for an 8M offer sheet is a 1st, 2nd and 3rd?

So 9.5 is 4.5 less than 12.5? Matthews can't demand mcdavid money unless he wins a scoring title this upcoming season. Nylander and marner are comparable to Gaudreau and Forsberg contracts. Tavares takes the Stamkos contact to win a cup in his hometown and Doughty takes the Brent Burns contract.

Trade for futures
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CaptJosef</b></div><div>Solid effort but, from a Flyers perspective, there's no way we give up the second overall pick for Mrazek. We have a wealth of young goalies and very few prospect centres. Getting the chance to pick one of Hischer or Patrick was huge for us. If we have to sign a free agent for a season or two in net to split time with Neuvirth (while calling up Stolarz when Neuvirth inevitably gets hurt) then that's the way we'll go. After the Flames dealt for Smith and with Fleury waiving his NMC it wouldn't surprise me to see Mason back (or at least I'd be less surprised than a few days ago).</div></div>
Completely forgot they were picking 2nd. Switched it to 2018.

I have him in a third line role, he's no longer the #1C therefore will not put up a 50 point pace, he also isn't playing next to JVR or Kessel so 38 points is more realistic. I do think Bozak is a productive player but to expect your 3C to put up a 50 point pace is absurd.

Because he had 35 points in 57 games last season which is equal to 50 points over 82 which is a direct comparable to Frans Nielsen who they just lost.

Are the Leafs getting better? Basically they're swapping JVR for Kucherov, taking on a bad contract and giving up a second to make this upgrade. I feel like TOR is further along developing a future Kucherov (Marner, Nylander, Kapanen, Rychel Johansson) than something that JVR brings which is a net presence, some physicality and what I think of as more of a two-way player. Now in all honesty, JVR hasn't played for some time so my memory of him isn't the greatest, I just don't know if its beneficial to make this move.</i></div></div>
JVR definitely isn't a two-war player, and hopefully with the way Toronto just drafted they are developping bigger bodied players to replace him (Korshkov, Grundstrom, Rychel trade). The leafs offense was laughable last season and it will get better this season with Matthews, Nylander and hopefully Marner but Kucherov is younger and better than JVR and the more offense the better at this point in the rebuild.

With Stamkos, Matthews and Marner playing their first seasons in a leaf uniform he will be an afterthought whereas he would be the best incoming player on most other teams, and it's spelled Vesey.

Take Pokka out of the trade, resign Corrado for that spot. Savard has more value than Bozak but if Toronto takes back Hartnell or another big contract it can work. I don't think Anaheim takes on Laich which would mean Toronto buys out Bickell and Lou already came out and said Lupul won't play again which means he will get Robidas'd which opens up the cap space needed.

Journey into the dark side
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div><i>Well Dullard, let me help you open the cupboard a little more.
IMO, Leafs don't go after a goalie this season (at least an expensive one). Still got one year of Bernier, and one of Sparks and Bibeau will likely get NHL action. Bibeau has come on, and would hate to see him exposed if their is expansion in the summer of 2017.
Defence: Dermott will play in the AHL next year, Harrington may not even by resigned by the Leafs. Connor Carrick looks like a near lock to be on the Leafs next year. Played well last year and has excelled with the Marlies. Maybe Frank Corrado. Marincin looks like he has earned a play for next year also. For Luke's sake, I can't see him coming back to the Leafs. Demers or a guy like him, I would think the Leafs might sign a cheaper short term UFA Dman. Valiev might be the first call up as he starts his second year with the Marlies
Forwards. Think you have almost nailed the on the team. Kapanen will start with the Marlies and age 20 needs heavy minutes, but he has come on and could very well be an NHLer. You left out RWer Hyman who at age 23, first year pro at is a fast riser. Seems to work well with Nylander at centre. Since Nylander has played centre all year with the Leafs and Marlies, I'm assuming he stays at centre. That slips Bozak to the fourth line centre....pretty nice. Josh Leivo starts his fourth year pro as a LW or RWer. Looks like he should make the Leafs.
Soshinov 23 year old Russian who played for Leafs but mostly the Marlies in his first year in North American looks like a Leaf next year at LW or RW.. New depth on LW with the Marlies is Andreas Johnson from Sweden, Tishavov from Ukraine/Sweden/Shawinghan. So for a rebuilding team, Ladd is not needed for the Leafs. Leafs will keep Greening...he played well last year, or if doesn't make the Leafs, the Marlies are waiting for this Toronto boy.
Salary cap....no guarantees that Lupul and Robidas are full LTIR for cap relief.</i></div></div><div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div><i>Well Dullard, let me help you open the cupboard a little more.

Dermott and Timashov (not Tishavov) are not eligible to play on the Marlies next year. Sosh and Hyman are both RW's, we do not have LW depth. Ladd would be perfect for this team.

Leafs would be better to anticipate a buyout and just sign him to a deal that they want. No way the leafs take on 4 more years with a NMC. JVR will be moved for futures, not the past.
