I still think sharks pass! On a very offensively gifted team he is on pace for 25 points with a 4.95 cap hit and 11 mil actual salary over the next 2 years! That to me a min 1st round pick.

The other way of looking at it is he has excellent underlying numbers, good 5v5 scoring and because he's on a good offensive team gets very few opportunities to score. He does well in the limited minutes he gets and his contract is totally fine. Right in line with who he is as a player.

He'd be your second best player likely after Hertl with Couture out. AND a 2nd to take him. Seems rich. I think come the summer he will be moved for less than a 2nd. Could even be for a just a late round pick. And I think for whoever gets him if they have a role for him they'll be happy to have gotten him for so little.

Spoken like a true snake oil salesman. “His numbers are low cause the team is so good” lmao if he was good his numbers would reflect that! Like I said easy pass! If anything I think his numbers drop with the sharks!

Edit:
I did look deeper into a garland and his metrics are pretty solid but the points are just not there! 12-2 takeaways vs giveaways is impressive! But 4.2% shooting percentage is bad even for a D man

I mean you are arguing not to acquire what would be probably your 3 best player, who is a fan fav diminutive energy type guy + a 2nd round pick for a 6th! From that perspective selling water to a thirsty man would seem like snake oil.

As for being on a good team, the point is we have plenty better options for pp and offensive situations. Put him in SJ where he'd be PP1 and everything else and his ceiling could be in the 60s. That's what he was on pace for the last time he was a 1st guy up relied on type guy.

as for Edit: Unfortunately his shooting % will always be low. His shot is just awful. He uses a stick that comes up just past his bell button which helps him in tight spaces but his shot is a muffin.

That’s the problem he won’t get squat with the sharks because he provides the same thing that Eklund, Barabanov, Granlund, and a number of other sharks forwards do and not enough of what the sharks need shooting and Scoring! He would be as redundant on the sharks as he is on Vancouver! And he would be likely the 5th best behind Hertl Eklund Couture and Barabanov right in line with Hoffman Granlund and Duclair.

He would also block future sharks like Halttunen Musty Smith Gushin and Bordeleau plus out 24 1st rounder (come in Celebrini)

Canucks fan here,
I'm curious what your opinion would be on trading Boeser as opposed to Garland this offseason if his value is at an all-time high from the number of goals he is on pace to score.
Frees up a top-6 spot for Garland and should be able to fetch a solid prospect in return and tons of salary cap room to play around with for the remaining roster vacancies.

Also no extensions for Stud or Johansson?
