I think it could work in NHL and it doesn't have to have any playoff cred., but it could.

In minor hockey, there's Christmas tourneys and Easter/Spring ones all the time that do not factor into end of the year playoffs.
They are a great way to amp up the middle of the season and get your team going for season's end...

It's weird because he has a lethal shot, but he's definitely not a game changer. I feel like any highlight of his involves someone else doing all of the work and him finishing it.

He's like a striker in soccer/futbol. If you don't have a good one you're team will struggle at scoring; but if you have a good one you notice all the great support they get but still get the glory.

Better to have it than not; but hard to value something that is that rare

He is a top-10 player, top-15 at worst…hard say he is “most” overrated…too few spots to move up (vs say, a top-600 player called a top-30 player).

Draisaitl is pretty much unanimously a top 5 player in the league according to a large majority of analysts and hockey fans. He's not.

I mean the playoff stuff would be more so for WC or to where they would fight a WC team for the remaining spot

He’s also one of the best passers in the league. His accuracy/vision lead make life very easy for the guys who he plays with

Sharks won the Karlsson trade

Gonna be be looking real nice for them once they have the 12th Overall pick, and Granlund + Hoffman both look like trade chips. Granlunds got 18 points in 21 games.

Meanwhile, Karlsson has played well in PIT, better than I expected even, but Pittsburgh has to make the playoffs + Karlsson has to play well for them to be considered as the winners there.

I know it's an unpopular take, but I think Grier has done a fairly good job in San Jose. They were one of the most undesirable jobs with their lack of prospect pool, # of long and lengthy contracts, and their difficult ownership. There is a few times I would've drafted differently but overall I think he's done pretty well. I think San Jose is on the right track.
