Not the winning package for either, nor do either player fit the direction the team is going (not saying it wouldn’t be awesome to have one or both).

Switch Hanas with Edvinsson or Kasper, drop the retention of chariot and you have yourself a deal

I mean I understand, to a degree. Saros would be perfect to kind of help introduce Cossa into the NHL in 2025/26 plus will provide more consistency in goal. Pesce doesn't need to be the guy they get, they just need to get rid of Chiarot and get themselves a RHD that isn't terrible, probably Christopher Tanev would work better tbh for just price.

Saros would be the move I'd love, but probably for cheaper + an extension. Need a consistent guy that can post over a .900% and Husso hasn't really done that for us. Would be smart to take advantage of Carolina and get him and Tanev, plus still do a Chairot cap dump.

neither Detroit would be willing to trade. But still think Husso could be of real interest with Pesce involved or not

Fine another one of your top prospects then. Trading away Pesce and taking on the Charoit contract is going to require a top-level prospect like Edvinsson or Kasper because the Hurricanes are taking on a an awful contract while trading away a very very good defender. The Hurricanes have no want or need for Ville's $4.75m deal for the next year and a half

NSH declines. This is a lot of quantity coming back to NSH and they don't need that, they need top end center and RD prospects. After those two it is LW, but it is not nearly as high of a priority.

The two LD's you have here get lost in NSH's system considering NSH already have the top 2 LD's in the WHL this season in terms of point production (Sward and Molendyk) along with 3 other LD's who are in the AHL who would at least be serviceable should they get called up. Hirose is of no interest considering NSH has plenty of bottom-six/mid-six wingers, both on roster and in system. Additionally, I can't see NSH trading Saros without a 1st being involved.

For NSH to consider moving arguably their top player it is going to take a high amount of quality, not necessarily quantity. As likely the top goalie to be on the market come the deadline, and already having a friendly contract for through next season as well, Trotz is going to ask for as high as he can get. We also already likely know that DET wouldn't be the only team calling about Saros. If DET is serious about picking up Saros, its likely going to cost them one of Danielson/Pellikka/Kasper and a 1st just to be competitive with other offers. If you want retention on Saros, NSH would probably ask for a 2nd or 3rd to be thrown on top of that considering that would be NSH's last retention spot, and it prevents them from getting a better return on someone like Barrie or Trenin at the deadline.

Its a high ask, but top 5 goalies in the league are worth the high quality, especially when they come with cap friendly term already attached.

Saros would be fantastic…. But would be too expensive and his extension would alter the allocated plan for cap, meaning some tough losses or paying to rid themselves of certain contracts.

Pesce would essentially mean only one RHD out of ASP, Tuo, Ant, and Gibson would fit into future plans. As much as the right side of Seider-Pesce-ASP sounds lethal, it’s not practical in terms of a salary cap.
