Instead of the Flames burning a retention spot do you think the Avs would send a contract back? MacDermid? Expiring UFA? Olofsson?

The Avs wouldn't necessarily need retention for 2023/24 so sending s contract back would work (eg. Francouz), but the issue is the $2.2m caphit isn't viable for next season when the Avs will be pressed for capspace due to Landeskog probably returning.

Flames could add a pending UFA to the deal or a pick and take on a guy like O'Connor? Would negate a million dollars next season which would be similar to the Flames retaining on Vladar. I think the Flames getting anything for Vladar at this point is a good deal for Calgary/

Not a bad goalie, but pass. I'd probably count on Francouz returning, or Prosvetov working out. If neither end up happening, then it's a deal next season/TDL.

I’d prefer to see Provetsov first because Vladar hasn’t been all that impressive imo.

AVS have no interest in trading O'Connor. He is a perfect fit on the 4th llne, and cheap with term.
