Just keep Bratt if you’re moving Pettersson to the wing imo

If Vancouver trades EP it’s because they are blowing the team up basically at that point so why would they want Bratt instead of taking a massive amount of futures?

Pettersson is a significant enough upgrade imo but Fitz is probably happy with what they have, and rightfully so.

Elias Pettersson is getting more than $10,000,000 per season long term. I bet he comes somewhere in the 8 x $11,500,000 range.

And that offer is easily beat if Patrik Allvin were to trade him. The 1st round pick is late. Holtz hasn't necessarily lit the world on fire in the NHL since his draft year. You want Pettersson? He's going to cost you pieces that you're definitely not going to want to surrender.

Awe because it's not remotely close to his value, Perhaps that's why.

We already have too many wingers. Bratt is great no doubt, but he doesn’t really make sense as the headline piece in a Pettersson trade

Would need Nemec/L Hughes instead of Holtz as well

If Pettersson is traded we’d be rebuilding. Would rather have the younger Mercer who can play center if needed

I didn’t say Nemec was worth 2 1sts, I said NJ wouldn’t trade him for 2 1sts because they don’t have a reason to be trading for futures. I also said the Canucks wouldn’t give up 2 1sts for him

Because we don't need wingers and would have a huge hole to fill at 1C if we traded Pettersson. How many goals does Bratt score with no one to set him up? Holtz hasn't done much of anything at the NHL level and the 1st would be in the bottom of the round. IF Vancouver were to trade Pettersson there would be several teams who would make much better offers.

Canucks decline. Not interested in Bratt as part of the return for Pettersson. We already have too many wingers as is, Bratt just makes the logjam worse while leaving us with a major hole at 1C and no cap space to fill said hole, or any of the holes on defence either.

Going by this one

Bratt = Dach, Reinbacher, CGY 1st
Holtz > Roy
NJD 1st < MTL 1st

It’s pretty close.

Realistically the MTL offers are probably a late 1st more.

Bratt is definitely not worth that much, he is good, but probably worth the equivalent of 5th OA

Like alot of people on here are saying, it would be if Vancouver was in a complete rebuild, including Quinn Hughes, Demko, Miller all going out the door. For a build from the ground up franchise, they'd want a Holtz, Hughes/Nemec and 1st/2nd round returns for him, no disrespect to Bratt he's a great player, but he's a year older than Petterson and the idea would be to start with elite cheap young pieces and getting out of cap hell for a team that's been capped tied for years and has been terrible.

I would think…if there were ever Pettersson conversations in real life…they would be centered around Mercer as main piece going to Vancouver. (1) he would provide position flexibility for them; (2) Bratt just signed long-term; (3) Mercer is on the verge of first RFA deal (typically the most likely time a young top player moves, if they ever do).

Mercer would be hard to give up…and it’s hard to imagine a combination of players that would suit both sides. Would be in neighborhood of…

Mercer
Holtz
Casey
2024 1st
Conditional 1st/2nd

But center is not a position of need for NJD, nor is scoring going to be much of a problem. A goalie maybe. Or a dman who excels at d-zone exits and starting a transition, maybe. But Pettersson would be excess.

Fun though.

5 1sts of value there imo, assuming 7x10 for pettersson. He'd probably have to be a 13.5 mill player for that to be worth it.

I see him as an 85 point, elite defensive C. I don't think that's worth 13.5

Pettersson is worth 13.5m…or that package…to most teams. But I don’t think we would be one of them.

Also…without knowing what he signs for, it’s tough to get a real value. Pettersson at $12.5m x 3 years gets a very different trade return from Pettersson at $8.5m x 8 years (obviously).

This is fun to think about, but why would NJ want to tie up probably over 10m in another center when they already have two excellent top 6 Cs? The whole reason why they are in such an excellent position right now is because they drafted and developed and targeted upgrades in positions of need. This is the opposite of that.
