      Dude, take a breath, maybe?

Not all draft picks turn out. No team hits on 100% of their picks, not even 1st rounders.

If a pick doesn't work out, you move on to the next prospect. It's ok, the team will be fine. The core is locked up long term (except for Pinto).

You can also acquire players of all kinds via free agency or trade.

Losing our 9-10th D on waivers ain't reason to get this upset

I like Lassi, but it isn’t a huge loss by any means. Ottawa has some solid options in Kleven and Matinpalo that can come up and play games if needed.

The Canadian teams need to get together and help each other with some trades to help both teams. No offence to any of you Americans but so tired of Canadian teams never winning the CUP! It's not that the teams suck here ,it is the horrible management that constantly make bad choices that ruin those teams instead of fixing them!

This isn't a one-off. Dorion has badly managed assets ever since he took over as gm. Zibanejad-Brassard, trading a 2nd for Derek Stepan, the reach on Boucher, trading for Debrincat not knowing if he wanted to sign long term, and now he has backed himself into a corner with the Pinto situation. Yes we have a solid core, but, as we saw last year, if any one of them are out for a significant amount of time, we're screwed.

Zibanejad was traded because Melnyk couldn't afford his next contract. Also, there is some revisionist history here too, since I remember the talk at the time in the fan base was that he seemed more interested in being a DJ than applying himself to hockey.

What players taken after Boucher has been stellar, other than Wyatt Johnson? Sillenger with his whopping 3 goals last season? Barely any have played in the NHL.

I'm fine with the Debrincat trade. Giroux cited it as a reason he signed with Ottawa. And after years of rebuilds and trading away players, we made a play to try and got one. It didn't work out. Now we have a 1stnrd pick and Kubalik, who looks like he's playing well and fitting in so far.

He mishandled the Pinto situation, and it will likely be his make or break situation.

I got the point of the Stepan acquisition, but a 2nd was too much.

He's made good moves, he's made bad moves. He's had some good drafts, he's nhad some bad ones. He managed to get a lot of talented players to sign up long-term, and he's overpaid for some others. He's had to work with a barebones hockey ops dept and a seriously frugal owner.

Happens to every GM. Look at the haul JBB have away for Jeannot. The terrible FA signings by Yzerman.

Andlauer believes in accountability. As long as he sees fit to keep him around, I'll assume he's doing a good job enough job with the resources and mandate given

I would love Ottawa to send 1st AND 2nd round picks to Chicago for taking Joseph. I have said all along I think it will take a 1st or 2x 2nds but I think this proposal is too much for Chicago to ask for.

Send Joseph and Ottawa’s 2024 1st to Chicago for FC or someone like Blackwell, Anderson and call it a day.

Dorion reminds me of a family I have known when I was younger. They won the million in the lottery (which was a few millions today) and they dilapidated all of it within 2 years on the most futile and useless stuff possible.

And I doubt OP's frustration is just based on Lassi Thomson being claimed on waivers. Dorion has dilapidated assets left and right for years. Yes the core is young, good and signed but we could have been richer, much richer with proper management

You forgot 2 of the most trades possible. The Duchene fiasco and Gustavsson for Talbot...
