TSN has ranked the top-25 players in NHL today

1. MacKinnon
2. McDavid
3. Kucherov
4. Matthews
5. Makar

19. Hughes

I have always loved being underdog, forgotten team etc. Winning and having a good squad always beats what self-proclaimed experts say.

Zach Hyman lol.

I'd slot Jack in either right above or below Quinn.

In Canada, the only good Americans are ones that play for Canadian teams.

I’m a Canadian but the news outlets just feed these fanbases almost exclusively propaganda. With the occasional contrarian ****ting on everything on the Canadian teams going to the other extreme. Very little good analysis out there in the media and it shows in the fanbases

(it was tongue-in-cheek....since they have Matthews, Quinn, etc all appropriately ranked....but Hughes, Tkachuk seemed to have been forgotten)

Bratt added to All Star Game. Good on him, means Jack is farther out, not good.

Good for Bratt. Let him draft with Buble!

I believe I read 6-8 weeks for sprained wrist...grade-2 (no surgery)....so I have viewed the outdoor game as earliest return.

If we win 28 out of our 35 remaining games, we can match last year's record!

28 --- 2 -- 5 = 112 pts
23 --- 9 -- 3 = 100 pts
21 -- 12 -- 2 = 95 pts (playoffs)
18 -- 14 -- 3 = 90 pts
16 -- 17 -- 2 = 85 pts
13 -- 19 -- 3 = 80 pts (lottery)
11 -- 22 -- 2 = 75 pts

So we need around 0.625 point percentage (top-10 in NHL) the rest of way.

(Or 0.600 with some help)

What are the rules regarding putting foote & or McLeod on waivers for example?

Because that’s where foote came from anyway. Could we bury the cap hits potentially in a scenario where we sell toffoli and try to accrue cap space once Siegs Nosek and Smith are healthy? Or what are the rules about sending down an injured player like Nosek or Smith for example?

They have to be removed from non-roster first

Any chance you could see that happening?

James Nichols says Devils will be buyers, so the Lindholm price should...

(just ignore everything James Nichols says)

Generally, without knowing what other moves are to be made…where is the line for Toffoli extension?

A. $6.8m x 1 year
B. $5.8m x 2 years
C. $5.4m x 3 years
D. $5.2m x 4 years
E. $5.0m x 5 years

Depends on the mercer deal and if it's a bridge or a long term deal.

Assuming mercer 6 mill
Luke 8 mill
Holtz 3.5 mill

We realistically can't extend toffoli for more than 1-2 years without getting off either Hamilton or Palat.

Hughes-Mercer-Bratt
Hischier-Meier-Holtz
Haula-Gritysuk-Palat as a top 9 is enough. unless you move Mercer to 3C Haula to 4C or move out Palat I don't see a space

I don’t know if I would do more than 2 years. But even then, I think the best option may be to move him at deadline if we could get something meaningful for him.

I think we can get a 1st+3rd. Then dump Vanacek for a 3rd. In an ideal world we find some way to get out of the McLeod and Foote money and then avoid all the overages

Calgary fans got a slightly better than expected return (mostly because everyone is overrating OHL production and underrating how much of a cap dump Kuzmenko is) and so now we’re back to delusional returns for everyone.

Bettman basically said the other day until the judicial proceedings are done, there is nothing they can do. If a team were to try to terminate, it would be seen as interfering with judicial process.

I think it’s dead money

And dead money that we probably can’t ship out even as a cap dump bc of the PR. Unfortunate.

I still don’t quite understand why we can’t send both Foote and McLeod down and then place them back on non roster.

Idk why the NHLPA would care, Mcleod would be getting paid the same amount and it would mean more money available next year to pay other NHLers. Ig foote would be an issue since he's on a 2 way deal.

I think the trade was right in-line with expectations. Kuzmenko, like Beauvillier in Horvat deal, has little value to seller. Difference was with prospects. We had seen Raty in multiple pro leagues and most were underwhelmed. Hunter B’s question marks are mostly unknown. The points in OHL are nice, but he did lose his spot at University of Michigan and wasn’t considered for US WJC roster…which could mean red flags, could mean nothing.

It’s all about setting precedent. They don’t want teams to find ways out of contracts.

People saw 1st (all valued equally in their heads), lots of points dman=elite prospect, big goals last year forward=valuable asset, 2 more pretty meaningless assets (quantity baby).
