Kubalik is not a cap dump. I am quite confident in that. He should be worth a 3rd round pick, right now. If you make that Forsberg trade, you don't need to dump Kubalik, you can sign Pinto for 2.5m and the cap works.

Avs decline. They can't afford a goalie like Forsberg because it causes cap issues once Frankie returns. They need a short term cheap fix.

I think the Habs are past the point of adding players. Kubalik is nice but pointless for a team like MTL right now.

Dorion can't sign that contract, because it'd mean that he is bending to anybody and everyone will force him to overpay (which also doesn't make sense as he has signed all the Sens core to reasonable contracts, one of the very rare things he has done well)

Look at Cates, Frost, Lafreniere, McLeod, Glass, Dellandrea, Harvey-Pinard, etc contracts

Why would Pinto make significantly more than them?

lol, Kubalik turned 28 not even a month ago. His 45 pts last season would have been 2nd on the Habs

Both trades in this ACGM should be to "any team" instead of specific ones
I created a suggestion thread lately for that. Would be nice if we could get CF to add this option

Teams know that the sens are in cap trouble and need to move off guys. They arent gonna give up a 3rd if they dont need to

True but at some point a team will want to use Kubalik on their team and buy LOW (4th?) on him to sell him HIGH at the deadline (2nd?)

And it doesn't have to be from a team that currently has cap space. It could be from a team with a new injury or teams that could send a player in the AHL to save cap

True, but with training camp starting and rosters being finalized it might be tough. Guys will be put on waivers and trades will be made. I like Kubalik and think he'd be a great 3rd line winger some where.

Keep in mind that injuries will start to pile up. Teams who suffer a big loss might not want to screw up their season and fill the spot with a not-so ready prospect or a guy from the waiver wire.

Kubalik is not perfect but he's a solid guy to complete your top-6 or replace an injured top-6 forward. He has a big shot and good offensive instincts, he produces on the PP.

Not that big of a deal, he's a NHL player, pretty sure he's ready physically. Brady missed the whole training camp and the first 3 games 2 years ago. It will most likely end up as similar.

As of now they are cap compliant, they will most likely go through the whole training camp like this, make their decisions and then make a move (one thing for sure is they're waiting to see if there's going to be an injury in camp)
