How they address the goaltending now

Description
What I would do is sign Jaroslav Halak to a PTO, he still wants to be a backup, and he likely could be for a good part of the season for the Avs before Francouz comes back. However, if you don’t like the idea of Halak being your backup off of the PTO, then there are some good waiver claim options that are around the league, such as:

Alex Stalock (ANA; if he’s waived)
Ivan Prosvetov (ARI)
Eric Comrie (BUF; if he’s waived)
Alex Lyon/James Reimer/Michael Hutchinson (DET)
Calvin Pickard (EDM)
Anthony Stolarz (FLA; if he’s waived)
David Rittich (LAK; if he’s waived)
Cayden Primeau (MTL)
Keith Kinkaid/Erik Kallgren (NJD)
Louis Domingue (NYR)
Felix Sandstrom (PHI)
Magnus Hellberg (PIT; get him some sick Avs pads plz)
Joey Daccord (SEA; I bet they waive Driedger instead tbh)
Malcolm Subban (STL; if he’s waived)
Jonas Johansson/Matt Tomkins (TBL; JoJo returns pt. 100)
Martin Jones (TOR)
Spencer Martin (VAN)
Hunter Shepard (WSH)
Colin Delia (WPG)

Tbh I threw a lot of names out there, and most of them are just on there bc they’re fringe NHL guys in my eyes. The most likely options, shall they all be placed on waivers, would be Jones, JoJo, Daccord, Comrie, Rittich, Lyon, Stolarz, Stalock and Prosvetov. The biggest thing for the Avs is not only the talent of the backup goalie, but saving on cap space as well. I think signing Halak or some veteran goalie (Brian Elliott maybe?) to a PTO would be a smart idea, but I think they’ll likely hit the waiver wire to bring in a temporary backup while Francouz recovers.

Halak
For some reason, part of me thinks Halak would already be signed if he wanted to be the backup on the Avs, he stated before he still wants a backup role. Idk why he hasn’t taken it yet tbh.

With where the Av's are sitting on any waiver wire list, the only way they add a waiver bound goalie is by jumping the line by trading a 4th to 6th Rd pick to get their goalie of choice.

Because he likely knows that once Francouz comes back that he'll be waived to be sent down and probably doesn't want to go to the A.

Waiting to claim a goalie is less reliable and could take longer than the Avs are willing to wait to get a backup in the mix to relieve Georgie. When you factor that the Avs are more likely to let Frankie walk to Free agency after this season, It seems more probable that the Avs will trade for a goalie that has multiple years under contract. I keep seeing Vladar from the Flames in trade rumours, he is 26 with 2 years under contract, it more appropriately fills the backup role for the Avs so Annunen, Miner and Holm can get a couple more years to cook and level themselves up. Frankie to the Flames with a pick for Vladar seems like the best move available for both teams since the Flames have Dustin Wolf as their big up and coming guy between the pipes.

I like the idea of bringing back Hutchinson...or grabbing Jones, THE redemption goalie.

Why? Most teams have a better 2G than all the guys on this list. Hence why you waive a 3G. The only reason why you claim a guy is because of injury. Last season, there were 3 goalies that were claimed off waivers:

Connor Ingram (on October 10)
Jonas Johansson x2 (on September 30 and October 12)
Magnus Hellberg x3 (on October 3, November 10, November 23)

I'm not going to go through and count every goalie that was waived last year, but I imagine there were at least 20 that pass through waivers in early October (as just about every team waives their 3G unless it's someone young who is waiver exempt). The market here isn't really conducive to getting a meaningful return when all of these guys are marginal players.

Annunen and Holm become waiver eligible next year. Miner is still sequestered in the ECHL. Ideal state is that Annunen is ready for an NHL job next season. Why not give him a trial run at the beginning of this year and trade for a goalie if it doesn't work out? Or claim a cheap guy and give Annunen another year to cook.

Rawal said in an interview they'll need a backup for 20 games or so, meaning they only need someone to play like 5 games. If that's true, I don't think anyone making over a million should be on the radar.
