Traditionnally, it cost a good prospect + high draft pick (1st and 2nd round picks) to get these kind of player that you listed (You can also argue that they could be on the decline, like Sagecoll said).
Alas, BOS doesnt really have any of these 2 things:
- Their prospect pool is really shallow. Apart from Lysell and a small handful of other guys, there's not much value there. But that's to be expected when you had a long Stanley Cup window like BOS had.
- With only 5 picks in the first 3 round for the next (None in 2024), there is not much there too. The question that BOS management have to ask themselves is: "Do we wanna trade our 2025 1st round pick, and chase a rapidly-closing SC window, or garnish our prospect pool a bit so that, when we enter a rebuild phase, it'll be less rough?"
Realistically, I think BOS have to give one of their high-value player to receive one of these guys (Maybe Carlo? Maybe DeBrusk? Maybe Ullmark?)
One way or another, BOS futures doesn't look all that good for the next few years.
