Holtz on the 4th line makes no sense. He's a scorer, needs to be given a shooters spot. Also, Holtz would PP not PK. Palat would be the 4th PK guy, if not Nico (who is a great defensive center but i wonder if they rest Nico more). Bastian is built for 4th line. Foote would be on waivers if not on roster, so I expect him at worst a scratch.

Devils had the third best record last year with worse goaltending including Blackwood...but cool.

Their goaltending didn’t get any better and other teams in the league got better as a whole. Carolina and Toronto are definitely better teams just in the East alone

Their goaltending got better through addition by subtraction. Blackwood out and Schmid in more. Carolina is very good for sure, no doubt, but if you are also discounting Meier for a full year and adding Toffoli, then I guess take whatever small victories you can as a Flyers fan the Devils settle for top 3 in the East, but they improved as well this off-season.

Lmao u taking a shot at me as a flyers fan is comical considering I hope the flyers finish dead last this season and I never once insulted the Devils. Taking an objective look at our division the flyers should finish 8th and Devils should finish 2nd. I don’t believe the Devils got better and I think Carolina overall is the better team. The title said presidents trophy and I commented simply disagreeing but you getting salty about it is funny

But do you see how arguing the goaltending didn't get better doesn't make sense? Blackwood was BAD. Schmid has been really good. Him just playing more makes that goaltending better.

Also not sure how TOR improved more than NJ considering what was lost vs what was gained.

Goaltending on paper didn't get better. But me being a Devils fan/ optimistic hoping getting benched in the playoffs (again) & being in his prime Vanecek comes back better and more experience for Schmid hopefully Schmid improves.

I did also have Blackwood bouncing back last year soo... we'll see.

Toronto 100% got better and that’s coming from me who I like to think it the biggest Toronto hater out there.
