Doesn’t make sense for the Hawks to go all in for McDavid when he is 26 and will have very little talent to work with in Chicago. He is also a free agent in 3 seasons which is most likely not enough time to assemble a competitive supporting cast.

Keep Bedard who is eight years younger and is team controlled for eight years. For the next three years his contract will also pay $8m less per season which can be used to acquire additional assets, talent and depth Bedard will need around him.
